Community Giving

Fundraising by community groups, clubs and schools helps to transform lives.

Community groups have helped to fund CT Scanners and other hi-tech equipment that make diagnosis and treatment easier for both patients and staff. Many schools and groups supported our Lions at Large Art Trail raising funds for The Big Space Cancer Appeal.

Every bake sale biscuit, every sponsored step, every raffle ticket bought has an impact.

Five ways you can help

• Fundraise throughout the year:

Why not choose us as your charity of the year? Regular fundraising is a great way to bring your school or community group together.

• Organise a one-off event:

Could you organise a sponsored school sports day or a fundraising litter pick? Or do you have the time and resources to put on a larger charity event such as a ball, concert or fashion show? Let us know how we can support you. Email us at ghn-tr.fundraising@nhs.net.

• Take on a challenge together:

Are you a running group who wants to go the extra mile? Visit our events page and take part in one of a range of amazing sporting challenges for #TeamNHSGlos. Why not sign up with your friends or community group?

• Choose where to make a difference:

If your community group wants to raise money for a particular area of the hospital let us know. We can help you set a fundraising target for a project of choice such as buying a piece of equipment to help staff and patients.

• Volunteer:

Could you help marshal at a major sporting challenge, help out with our next Sculpture Trail or support at our charity pod? Please get in touch. Volunteer for us

How our supporters have helped make a difference: Knit & Natter

Tesco Quedgeley’s Knit & Natter group raised an incredible £827 for the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre.

The community group organised by Theresa Fisher regularly knit to raise money for local causes, but this time it was in support of one of their members who was receiving treatment. The group held a 12-hour knit-a-thon for a 70th birthday and used the time to finish projects and start new ones!

How our supporters have helped make a difference: Gloucestershire Freemasons

State of the art cancer treatment equipment has been made possible thanks to the incredible support of county Freemasons. Members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Gloucestershire have raised thousands to fund an innovative jet ventilator which helps keeps a person’s body more still under anaesthetic. This helps surgeons more precisely target certain tumours.

Tim Henderson-Ross, the Head of the 2,500 Freemasons in Gloucestershire, said: “It is wonderful for us to see that our fundraising can unlock a whole new set of treatments with this machine. The great team under the leadership of Guy Hickson is doing just that and we could not be more pleased.”

This donation comes after the Lodge also raised £100,000 for a digital mobile X-ray scanner

“We wanted to raise money for something that would help as many people as possible in Gloucestershire. When we heard about the mobile X-ray machines, we felt this would be a great way to make a difference to a large number of patients in the county’s hospitals,” Tim said.
