Chlamydophila psittaci was formerly known as Chlamydia psittaci

Sample requirements

Minimum 200 µL of respiratory sample (sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage, lung biopsy or throat swab).

• Occupational history
• Details of pet ownership, e.g. parrots

Store at fridge temperature

Transport as soon as possible at ambient temperature
